About

ABOUT THE VOTE

Every five years, the Downtown Development District’s property tax millage comes up for renewal. This dedicated funding keeps downtown moving forward — supporting development, safety, events, and public spaces that benefit everyone.

Voting YES ensures the DDD can continue:

  • Driving economic growth and development

  • Supporting community safety patrols

  • Managing events and public spaces

  • Creating partnerships to strengthen downtown

This is about protecting the progress we’ve made and ensuring a strong future for Baton Rouge’s heart.

What I value most about living in Spanish Town and Downtown Baton Rouge is the way people from all walks of life come together to form a true community. There's a rich history here that we have the privilege of carrying on, and over the past decade, I've watched downtown grow and evolve in a way that looks to the future while respecting the past. That mix of tradition and progress is one of the many things that makes living here special.

No city thrives without a thriving downtown. Over the years, the Downtown Development District has led the charge in reimagining what downtown Baton Rouge can be, and their work has laid the foundation for our city’s future. From public spaces to economic development, they’ve shown how vital downtown is to the life of the entire parish. Renewing the DDD tax is about making sure they can continue this charge, so our capital city remains a place where people want to live, work, and gather.

Downtown Baton Rouge is the heartbeat and signature of our Capital Region. As Plan BR III unfolds in the coming months, we need the DDD to have the funding support it needs to help carry out this vision for our future. Please vote YES for your downtown on October 11!

The DDD's work touches our lives everyday as downtown residents. Whether it's improved street lighting, security patrols, or projects like the Downtown Greenway--the DDD directly impacts our safety and quality of life. Their work has also accelerated our ability to shop for groceries downtown, rent an apartment, attend a Live After Five concert, and exercise on the levee. Help us keep downtown strong, and vote 'yes' for downtown on October 11!
